Step 1: Leave the starting campsite prepared
- Pick up the Apples and Mushrooms beside the starting campfire.
- Keep the fire supplied with Sticks. Place food on the Rotisserie and take each item off once it has cooked; food can burn if you leave it there.
- Eat your prepared food, then drink from the nearby fountain. These are your starting food effects for health and stamina.
- Look for the pillar to the left of the campfire. Climb it, cross the rocks above and take the doorway out.
- In the next area, cross the wooden plank and check below the broken pillar for a key. Use it on the door beyond the stairs.
Step 2: Turn the large hall into your return point
- Enter the hall and locate the sleeping bag by its fire and storage.
- Interact with the sleeping bag and set it as your respawn point before going deeper.
- Leave spare food and materials in storage. If you need a new chest, hand-craft a Small Chest with 2 Wood Planks + 3 Scrap Metal.
- Collect Vines and Sticks for a Rope. A Rope requires 2 Vines + 1 Stick.
- Keep room in your inventory for a Hammer, keys and forge materials. You can explore the hall's side rooms later.
Step 3: Get the Hammer and open the rusted gates
- Behind the hall stairs, operate the wheel to lower the water in the passages below.
- Find the wall spike upstairs, attach your Rope and descend into the lower route.
- Follow the sewers, operate the next water wheel and climb toward the overhead pipes.
- After crossing the water, turn back toward the rusty pipe, climb onto it and crouch along its raised section.
- Drop into the room holding the Hammer. Use it on the nearby rusty bars to get out.
That last turn back onto the pipe is easy to miss. Follow the complete Hammer route for the sewer junctions and water crossing.
Step 4: Choose your next task at the forge
- Return to the hall and enter the basement stairs near its large doors.
- Break the rusted barrier with the Hammer.
- Search the forge rooms for Coal, Scrap Metal and the different casting molds.
- At the Big Smelter, put 5 Coal into the lower fuel supply and 8 Scrap Metal into the upper container. Fit the mold and pull the lever.
- Cast the two different keys for the oversized basement lock and the side door beside the Jaguar Door. These are not the same key; use the forging guide to match each mold to its lock.
Step 5: Open the route to the prison
- Open the oversized basement lock and reach the corridor with the Jaguar Door.
- Use the other forged key on the door on its right.
- Open the chest guarded by skeletons to obtain the Prison Key.
- Back in the main hall, follow the upper-left cave route to a chest containing a Small Key.
- Move the large plank across the upper gap, cross it and use the Small Key on the first door.
- Burn the webs along the spiral staircase with a Torch held in your right hand, then use the Prison Key on the inner door.

If you need more Leather or food
Search the sewer chests for your first Leather and save one piece to build a Workbench. Then catch rats, process them for Animal Hide and use 2 Animal Hide at the Workbench for 1 Leather after picking up your first piece. The Leather guide covers the first-piece problem. To prepare carcasses for meals, follow the Cooking Table guide.
